There’s something truly special about fall photo sessions — the golden light, crisp air, and the beautiful changing leaves. But what made this session even more unforgettable was the amazing Parks Family and the gorgeous setting of the Swenson House in Abilene, Texas.

This fun-loving blended family brought so much energy, laughter, and personality to their shoot. Every member of the family had their own spark, and I could tell right away that this session was going to be something special.

We met at the historic Swenson House, one of Abilene’s most charming photo locations. With its elegant architecture and lush fall backdrop, it provided the perfect setting to capture timeless family moments. As we moved through the session, I had such a great time getting to know the Parks family — their bonds were strong, their smiles genuine, and their love for one another was so evident in every photo we took.

One of the most heartwarming parts of the session was little Lincoln. At the beginning of our time together, I was told he hated getting his picture taken. But by the end? He had stepped up as my mini photography assistant! Not only did he start posing his family members, but he even began directing a few shots himself. It was such a sweet transformation to witness, and honestly one of the highlights of the entire shoot.

As I was looking through ALL of these photos when I got home afterwards, my husband kept asking, “what’s going on, why are you smiling so much?!” IT WAS THIS FAMILY!!! I will treasure these photos for years to come, and I hope they do too!!

These are the sessions I live for — the ones where connections are made, stories unfold, and unexpected moments of joy happen. The Parks Family reminded me exactly why I love being a family photographer in Abilene, Texas.

Friendly, Furry Visitor During Family Photo Session

As if the beautiful fall weather and sweet family moments weren’t enough, we even had a surprise visit from the friendly neighborhood cat who loves to make appearances during photo sessions at the Swenson House. This curious little feline wandered up halfway through the shoot, weaving between our feet and offering some comic relief. It’s almost like he’s made it his mission to cheer everyone on — a little unofficial mascot for family photos! The kids were delighted, and even Lincoln paused his assistant duties to give our furry friend a few pets.
